OpenAI's Board of Directors announced on Friday that Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman (pictured) will be leaving his post, stressing that the board "no longer has confidence" in Altman's ability to continue leading the company.
"Mr. Altman's departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities," the board's statement read. The company's chief technology officer, Mira Murati, will serve as an interim chief executive.
In addition, board Chairman Greg Brockman will step down from his position "and will remain in his role at the company, reporting to the CEO."
