Over 70 Gazans dead amid humanitarian aid distribution

More than 70 Palestinians were reported killed by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) on Thursday while waiting for humanitarian aid, Gaza's Health Ministry said.

The incident occurred as the IDF was delivering aid to the northern part of the Gaza Strip when a "violent gathering" around the aid trucks happened. According to the IDF, the situation escalated when Palestinians began looting the equipment being delivered.

The incident has prompted an investigation, as stated by the IDF, to understand the sequence of events that led to such a tragic outcome. The Israeli government said only "dozens of Gazans were injured as a result of pushing and trampling."
