Paramount likely to fire CEO Bob Bakish Monday

Paramount Global's board decided to fire its Chief Executive Officer Bob Bakish as merger talks with Skydance Media advance, CNBC reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter. The companies are in exclusive talks to pursue a deal until May 3.

Allegedly, Bakish won't be present during the earnings call of the company on Monday. The move would establish an Office of the CEO, which would consist of the company's division heads and managing the entertainment giant on an interim basis.

Paramount Global controlling shareholder Shari Redstone is reportedly seeking to oust Bakish before the company's carriage negotiation with Charter Communications, crucial for the ongoing merger discussions with Skydance.
