United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated on Tuesday that the US supports Taiwan but added that Washington's policy has not changed. "We still support the One China policy, we go there to support the status quo... there is nothing disruptive about that," she told NBC.
Pelosi repeated that China "will not be allowed to isolate Taiwan" and accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of being a "bully." She visited Taiwan last week with a group of US officials, drawing condemnation from Beijing and provoking Chinese military drills near Taiwan's territory.
