Some parts of the US military are preparing to cancel weapons programs they have long sought to eliminate but were unable to due to lawmakers protecting spending in their districts, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
These cuts are being prompted by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is set to arrive at the Pentagon on Friday.
As the Pentagon prepares for these changes, 14 states, including Michigan, New Mexico, and Arizona, have filed a lawsuit challenging DOGE's access to sensitive government data. This legal action coincides with President Donald Trump's executive order to reduce the federal workforce. Musk warned that the country could go bankrupt without cuts in federal spending.
