Pentagon press secretary Patrick Ryder stressed on Thursday that he could not confirm the information reported by CNN earlier today which claims that nearly half of the Israeli munitions dropped on Gaza were "dumb bombs," rather than precision-guided munitions.

According to CNN, which cited sources who viewed the assessment made by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, almost half of the air-to-ground missiles used by the Israeli Defense Forces were "unguided." "You know the American way of war...and the emphasis we place on precision, and underscoring since this campaign has begun the importance of protecting civilians," Ryder stressed.

Ryder also disclosed that United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown Jr. will join the country's defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, on his visit to Israel next week, during which the two are expected to meet with senior Israeli officials.
