Special Counsel Jack Smith formally appealed on Wednesday the dismissal of the case against former United States President Donald Trump regarding the mishandling of official documents.
"The United States of America hereby gives notice that it appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit from the order of the District Court entered on July 15, 2024, Docket Entry 672," the notice showed.
Earlier, Florida court federal Judge Aileen Cannon threw out the case ruling that Smith's appointment to prosecute cases involving the former president violated the Appointment Clause and the Appropriations Clause of the US Constitution.
