Hundreds of protesters stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad and set the building on fire, witnesses reported.
The incident came after the Swedish police issued a new permission for a protest that will likely involve the burning of the Quran outside the Iraqi embassy in the Scandinavian country.
Last month, Iraqi refugee Salwan Momika burned Islam's holy book in front of a mosque in Stockholm after receiving permission from the Swedish authorities to stage such a protest. Stockholm's move was met with backlash across the Muslim world with countries including Turkey and Iran slamming the action.
