White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki accused Russia on Thursday of "outright lies" after Moscow claimed the United States was developing chemical weapons in Ukraine.
Psaki claimed Russia is the country that has a "chemical and biological" weapons program and alleged Moscow has used such weapons in the past on its own as well as NATO soil. She noted the US believes Russia could use chemical weapons, based on a "pattern" of behavior and the fact it has the "capacity" to do so.
Asked if Washington would get involved in the military conflict in Ukraine if Moscow used chemical weapons, the White House official insisted the US still has no intention to send its military to Ukraine, but stressed she will not get into "hypotheticals."
