Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that the delivery of the latest Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles to the Admiral Gorshkov frigate will begin in the "coming months."
"The key thing here is the capability of the Russian navy... It is able to respond with lightning speed to all who decide to infringe on our sovereignty and freedom," Putin said in a speech in St. Petersburg at an event marking Russia's Navy Day. "The area for the service of the ship equipped with Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles will be chosen based on the interests of ensuring Russia's security," he added.
The Russian president also stressed that the United States is the "main threat" to his country, accusing it of plans to "dominate and promote NATO infrastructure" in the oceans.
