Putin leads election with 87.17% after processing 70% of ballots

Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that President Vladimir Putin secured 87.17% of the votes, with 70.03% of the ballots officially counted.

In second place is with Veteran Communist Nikolai Kharitonov capturing 4.19% of the vote followed by Vladislav Davankov with 4.08% and nationalist Leonid Slutsky, with 3.15% of the vote.

Thus, Putin is guaranteed to win the election, while the possibility of a second round is ruled out. In order to win the election in the first round, a candidate must receive more than half of the votes of voters who took part in the voting.
