Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Friday during a Security Council meeting that Poland is planning to "form some kind of a coalition under the NATO umbrella and directly intervene" in the conflict in Ukraine.

Putin claimed that the Polish side wants to do this in order to "tear off a bigger piece [of territory in Ukraine] for themselves, to regain, as they believe, their historical territories, [which encompass] today’s Western Ukraine." The head of state asserted that Ukrainian "cannon fodder" is not enough for the West and that they now plan to "use new consumables, Poles, Lithuanians" and others "down the list."

He went on to say that Warsaw is also eyeing Belarusian territory. The president underscored that unleashing any aggression against Minsk will mean unleashing it against Moscow as well, adding that Russia will respond to this with "all the means at our disposal."
