Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Defense Ministry officials and weapons developers on Friday that the country plans to continue testing its new intermediate-range Oreshnik missiles.
Russia first used the missiles in an attack on Ukraine earlier this week, in what Putin called "successful" tests. He added that his country has a "stockpile" of the new missile systems and called Oreshnik a "guarantor" of Russia's sovereignty.
Following the use of the new missiles, the Russian president insisted that Moscow decided to use them in response to Ukraine striking its territory with American long-range ATACMS missiles.
