Retail sales in Germany down 5.3% MoM in April

Turnover in Germany's retail trade in real terms fell 5.3% in April compared to the previous month, the country’s statistical office Destatis stated in its report published on Friday. The figure recorded a smaller decline than originally expected.

On the other hand, retail sales in real terms annually dropped by 6.5%, more than doubling the number that the estimates previously suggested.

According to provisional data turnover in retail trade in April 2020 was in nominal terms 5.3% lower than in April 2019. The number of days open for sale was 24 in April 2020 and in April 2019.

China's consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.1% in March from a year earlier, easing from February's 0.7% decline, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Thursday.
