Rubio stresses defense spending in call with Lammy

United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio (pictured) spoke on the phone with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy yesterday, the State Department said on Thursday. Rubio thanked the United Kingdom for its "work to align Europe and Ukraine" in efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war and stressed the need to increase European states' contribution to the continent's security.

Rubio also emphasized US President Donald Trump's "determination to bring about peace through negotiation." The diplomats discussed the situation in the Middle East and agreed that Iran must never develop or acquire a nuclear weapon.
