The Russian Defense Ministry denied on Sunday allegations of war crimes against civilians in the town of Bucha.

"During the time this settlement was under the control of the Russian armed forces, not a single local resident suffered from any violent actions," the ministry stated and claimed the photographs and video footage from Bucha were staged by Ukrainian authorities for Western media.

Earlier, Ukraine and the West alleged that evidence in areas liberated from Russian troops, including Bucha, indicated "war crimes" were committed there.
