The Russian oil tanker attacked this morning in the Kerch Strait was reportedly targeted by a Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) naval drone, The Financial Times reported Saturday, citing a Ukrainian official familiar with the operation.

According to the report, the attack occurred early Saturday morning, and the operation also involved the Ukrainian Navy. The targeted vessel, identified by Russian authorities as SIG, had 11 crew members on board. The SIG is under US sanctions for supplying aviation fuel to Russian forces in Syria.

Several media outlets reported that two tugs were dispatched to assist the vessel, which had lost power due to damage to the engine compartment. The crew was not seriously injured, and no fuel was spilled into the sea.
