Russian troops will start arriving in Belarus in the coming days, a Belarusian army official said on Friday. The forces will form part of the Regional Grouping of Forces, a joint task force established earlier this week, and carry out combat training activities.
Colonel Viktor Tumar stated that NATO forces have been "building up their military potential near our borders" for years and that Russia and Belarus aim to "ensure parity in the field of military security and maintain peace" in Belarus, insisting that the task force is an "exclusively defensive project."
