"There were no injuries and no interruptions to Saudi Aramco’s oil operations," read a statement on the oil giant's website following a drone attack on Shaybah oil field on Saturday. "Saudi Aramco’s response team controlled a limited fire this morning at the facility," the statement added.
The Houthis claimed responsibility immediately following the attack. The group's spokesman described the attack near the border with the United Arab Emirates as the "biggest attack in the depths" of oil-rich country. "We promise the Saudi regime and the powers of aggression bigger and wider operations if the aggression continues," the spokesperson said.
Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih responded in a separate statement, calling the incident a "cowardly attack" which "highlights the importance of the international community's response to all terrorist agents, including the Iran backed Houthi militia."
