Italian Deputy Prime Minister Mateo Salvini said on Monday that the county's exit from euro is not on the agenda in the foreseeable future. The minister's remarks mirror last week's statement by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who vowed that Rome would not abandon the common European currency.
"I want to change the rules of the house I live in. Putting citizens and the European dream in the first place, not the banks and finance," Salvini tweeted.
In recent days, Italy is fighting political and economic uncertainty, as Deputy Prime Ministers Luigi Di Maio and Matteo Salvini pushed for budget deficit target of 2.4% for the next year, with 2.2% and 2% for 2020 and 2021, respectively.
