Saudi Arabia could allow China to pay for oil in yuan - report

EPA-EFE/VALDRIN XHEMAJ

Saudi Arabia might accept Chinese yuan as a means of payment for some of its oil sales to Beijing, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The talks are not new per se, but have intensified since the start of 2022, the outlet quoted its source as saying.

"The Saudis are angry over the US' lack of support for their intervention in the Yemen civil war, and over the Biden administration’s attempt to strike a deal with Iran over its nuclear program," the report concluded.
