European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic (pictured) will travel to the United States for talks on the ongoing trade tensions. Commission spokesperson Olof Gill said Sefcovic will visit the US "in good faith to try and find solutions that can benefit us all."
Gill repeated that the European Union is "willing to find win-win outcomes, mutually beneficial deals to avoid tariffs and any harmful escalation that would be damaging to both sides of the Atlantic and the world economy." While the EU welcomed US President Donald Trump's decision to pause the 20% tariff on its exports, it stressed it continues to develop retaliatory measures if negotiations fail.
