United States Senate interviewed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about the sexual assault allegations raised against him as a fourth woman came forward with accusations of Kavanaugh's sexual misconduct, Politico reported. An anonymous woman wrote to Senator Cory Gardner saying Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in 1998. Kavanaugh denied the accusations.
"It's ridiculous. Total twilight zone. And no, I've never done anything like that," Kavanaugh said. Democratic members of the Senate expressed concerns that Republicans are fabricating new anonymous accusations to damage the credibility of the previous women who came forward against the Supreme Court nominee. "We’re focusing on the ones that have names attached," a senior Democratic Senate aide pointed out.
President Donald Trump said earlier that he thinks the accusations are "false," but that he is ready to withdraw Kavanaugh's nomination should any of them prove to be true.
