European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday that the ECB's September interest rate decisions will be based on economic data at the time, stressing that the bank is on a "normalization path."
Future decisions will be made in a "month by month" and "step by step" processes, she told reporters after the ECB hiked rates for the first time in 11 years.
On the ECB's anti-fragmentation Transmission Protection Instrument (TPI), Lagarde explained that "thorough assessments" will be carried out and "multiple indicators" will be discussed to determine which euro area economies need the aid the most.
