Shanghai has registered 51 new deaths related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, which represents the highest level the figure has reached since the start of the pandemic, the city's authorities said on Monday.
The city's representatives also confirmed 2,472 symptomatic cases of coronavirus, which is up by 1,401 in comparison to the day before, and 16,983 asymptomatic ones, down by 19,657 compared to the previous 24-hour period.
Ever since the latest outbreak of the disease in the city, Shanghai has been put under a new lockdown in accordance with China's zero-COVID policy. The measures have caused a series of economic and social issues, not just in the region, but around the world.
