An additional six United Kingdom ministers handed on Wednesday their notice of resignation to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, following similar decisions by finance secretary Rishi Sunak and health secretary Sajid Javid announced yesterday.

While expressing their gratitude for having the opportunity to serve the government, parliament members of Neil O'Brien, Lee Rowley, Julia Lopez, Kemi Badenoch, and Alex Burghart called Johnson to "step aside" as "it has become increasingly clear that the government cannot function given the issues that have come to light and the way in which they have been handled." The current situation "is not survivable," per sources cited by Sky News.

Meanwhile, housing secretary Michale Gove also called for Johnson's resignation, with reports suggesting the prime minister might face a confidence vote during the day.
