Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is in a stable, but still serious condition, the country's Defense Minister Robert Kalinak (pictured right) stated on Thursday.
Kalinak made the statement when speaking to the media at the F. D. Roosevelt University Hospital in Banska Bystrica, where Fico is being treated. The hospital's head, Miriam Lapunikova (pictured left), added that the prime minister suffered multiple injuries and was operated by two teams for five hours.
Fico was shot on Wednesday during a visit to Handlova and hit in the stomach and chest. The suspect was detained on the spot.
