King of Spain Felipe VI named the People Party's (PP) Alberto Nunez Feijoo as the candidate for the country's prime minister and asked him to form the government, Congress of Deputies President Francina Armengol told the media on Tuesday.

Nunez Feijoo accepted and thanked the king for the nomination, tweeting that his team will "give a voice to more than 11 million citizens that want a change."

According to El Pais, the PP has so far secured the support of Vox, the Navarrese People's Union (UPN), and the Canarian Coalition (CC). However, that coalition would count with only 172 Congress of Deputies seats out of 176 needed to form a majority.
