Sudan's military calls for 'independent' PM

Sudan's military, which has been ruling the country since ousting President Omar al-Bashir in a coup called on political parties in the country to choose an "independent" prime minister, AFP reported on Sunday.

Mohammad Hamdan Daglo, known as Himeidti, a member of the ruling military council, met with United States Ambassador to Sudan Steven Koutsis on Sunday to brief him on the security situation in the country. Meanwhile, the country's foreign ministry called on the international community to support the military's rule which it said is aimed at achieving a "democratic transition" in Sudan.

Al-Bashir, who ruled for over 25 years, was put under house arrest earlier this week.
