Newly appointed United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday and assured him of Britain's "steadfast support" for Kiev, a Downing Street spokesperson said.
According to Number 10, the two leaders agreed it is necessary to "continue to place pressure on [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's barbaric regime through continued economic sanctions."
Meanwhile, Zelensky noted he invited Sunak to visit Ukraine and the British prime minister expressed hope the two officials will "see each other in person soon."
