Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced on Monday a new set of COVID-19 measures that will come into force on Wednesday. The decision was made after Sweden hit a record high in coronavirus infections last week with 23,877. Hospitalizations also rose sharply, as health experts warned most patients were unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated.
Among the new measures, restaurants will have to close at 11 pm, while public gatherings are limited to 50 people unless vaccine certificates are available. Work from home is advised where possible, and adults are asked to limit their close contacts indoors.
