The Swiss Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter rose 0.7% compared to the previous three-month period, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) revealed in its report on Tuesday. Year over year, the figure grew 1.8%.
Quarter on quarter, manufacturing and construction increased 2.6% and 0.1% respectively, while trade declined 1.2%. On an annual level, manufacturing jumped 3.9%, construction added 0.4%, and trade lost 0.7%.
"The slightly above-average result was shaped by a strong expansion of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. In line with weak domestic demand, the other sectors developed mixed," it was mentioned in the report.
