The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that the government invited over 160 delegations to participate in the two-day conference on the Ukraine peace formula which will be held next month, but noted that Russia will not attend the upcoming talks.
"Switzerland has always shown openness to extending an invitation to Russia for this conference. However, Russia has said several times... that it is not interested in taking part in this first conference," the foreign ministry shared in the statement. "Switzerland is convinced that Russia must be involved in this process," the ministry stressed, adding that the peace process without Moscow is "not possible."
The meeting will be held on June 15 and 16, with the goal of establishing a platform for dialogue on reaching a "comprehensive" and "lasting peace" for Ukraine "on the basis of international law and the UN Charter."
