United States President Donald Trump warned on Thursday that the United Kingdom's Brexit agreement with the European Union could be an obstacle to a post-Brexit US-UK trade deal.
In an interview with Brexit Party Leader Nigel Farage, Trump insisted Washington wants to "do trade" with the UK and vice versa, but warned that, "under certain aspects" of the Withdrawal Agreement, "you can't do it, you can't trade." The US president added that the US and UK could boost mutual trade by four or five times if an agreement was struck.
Trump called on Farage and Johnson to join forces, to which the Brexit Party leader replied he would only be open to that option if the UK prime minister "dropped the dreadful deal." However, the US president stressed he "doesn't want to tell Boris" what to do.
