United States President Donald Trump claimed in a tweet on Sunday that his presidential campaign in 2016 was spied on by the Democrats and "Dirty Cops," which is the way he sometimes refers to the FBI. He also alleged that the Steele Dossier on his alleged collusion with Russia was funded and pushed by the Democrats and, especially, their then-candidate Hillary Clinton, adding the operation was a bigger scandal than Watergate.
"The Democrats and Crooked Hillary paid for & provided a Fake Dossier, with phony information gotten from foreign sources, pushed it to the corrupt media & Dirty Cops, & have now been caught. They spied on my campaign, then tried to cover it up - Just Like Watergate, but bigger!" Trump wrote.
The dossier was compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele for Fusion GPS, a private investigative firm. The 35-page unfinished document was leaked and published by BuzzFeed News in January 2017.
