Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski will run for reelection in 2022, her campaign announced on Friday. She is considered one of the most liberal Republican lawmakers, voting to convict then-President Donald Trump of incitement of insurrection during his second impeachment after the January 6 Capitol riot.

In her campaign video, Murkowski promised her Alaskan voters to "cut through the partisan gridlock and dysfunction in Washington" and to "always stand up to any politician or special interest that threatens our way of life." Trump endorsed her rival Kelly Tshibaka and vowed to campaign against the "failed candidate" Murkowski.
