US President Donald Trump stated Thursday that he doesn't want to escalate tariffs or see further retaliation from China.

He expressed concerns that higher tariffs would reduce consumer demand, saying, "At a certain point, I don't want them to go higher." Trump also emphasized that he doesn’t want China to retaliate further, adding that higher tariffs would lead to products being less affordable.

"Well, at a certain point, I don’t want them to go higher because, at a certain point, you make it where people don’t buy it. So, I may not wanna go higher, or I may not wanna go up to that level. I may wanna go to less because you want people to buy, and at a certain point, people aren’t gonna buy," he stressed.
