United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Washington is "strongly" considering advancing Brazil's membership at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's visit to Washington, Trump asserted that the relationship between Brasilia and Washington "has never been closer" and that the trade between the two nations "will increase substantially" in the future.

As they met in the Oval Office, President Trump praised Bolsonaro's presidential campaign, comparing it to his own 2016 campaign. Meanwhile, Bolsonaro endorsed Trump's border safety policies and his intent to build a wall on the US border with Mexico.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Venezuela and Trump reaffirmed that all options remain on the table for the resolution of the crisis.
