White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders stated on Monday United States President is "pleased the Democrats and the Congress have come to their senses" in regard to the government shutdown. The spokeswoman added that Trump administration is also "pleased" to see Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accepting the deal to end the government shutdown.
When asked whether the deal that was presented to Schumer today differs from the one from Friday, Sanders said that she doesn't "see it be drastically different," contrary to the politician's earlier statement. The press secretary stressed that the administration's main priority remains border security and the solution on DACA.
Sanders noted that Trump's "level of trust is not the highest" towards the Democrats, but that he is hopeful they will be able to reach an agreement on responsible immigration since the majority of them "agree on many points." She added that Trump's administration hopes the Democrats won't "play politics" and will "focus on the needs of our country."
