The campaign of "maximum pressure" on North Korea will continue regardless of the apparent thawing of relations with the United States, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday. He stressed that while he will seek "a future of peace, harmony, and security for the Korean Peninsula and the whole world" during his upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un but that he would not "repeat mistakes" of past administrations when approaching Pyongyang.
Speaking alongside his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the White House, Trump said the two of them agreed that Iran should never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and must cease its support for extremists across the region.
