Former United States President Donald Trump told CNN on Tuesday that, if elected, he "probably would" consider appointing independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to a role in his administration.
"I like him, and I respect him," Trump said of Kennedy, praising him for being "brilliant" and "very smart." He went on to say that he wasn't aware that Kennedy was considering dropping out of the presidential race, adding that "if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I'd be open to it." Trump said that he would be "honored" by the independent candidate's endorsement.
His comments came after Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, said that the Kennedy campaign is considering dropping out and endorsing Trump in a bid to reduce "the risk" of US Vice President Kamala Harris winning.
