Trump: Trade deal with China possible this week

United States President Donald Trump affirmed on Thursday that a trade deal with China is still possible this week despite an apparent breakdown in talks earlier. He told reporters at the White House that trade negotiators from the US and China would meet at 5 pm ET to continue talks. "We're going to find out about China tonight," Trump stated.

However, he said that the US would start paperwork on increased tariffs on a further $325 billion worth of Chinese imports today. "We're not gonna be taken advantage of by China," the president reiterated, highlighting that the US has raked in "billions and billions" of dollars from the tariffs on Chinese goods.

"We have billions of dollars coming to our country that we never would have seen with a regular president," Trump underscored.
