Former United States President and the Republican nominee in the 2024 election Donald Trump promised on Monday he will "stop violent crime in America" if he is re-elected to the White House.
"Crime in America is out of control. I am going to make it, along with the economy, inflation, strong borders, and energy dominance, my top priority," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "I will bring crime in America down to a tiny fraction of what it is today."
He also criticized his successor Joe Biden's handling of the issue, claiming that the Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be held in Chicago "in order to showcase it, and yet 117 people were shot, 17 killed, on the Fourth of July weekend, and 40 were shot this weekend. That is a war zone, and will be handled accordingly."
