United States President Donald Trump said Saturday that the country is gaining the upper hand in the ongoing trade war, promising that the US would "win."
In a social media post, he said tariffs have fueled a return of businesses and over $5 trillion in new investment, describing it as an "economic revolution." Trump said China has taken a bigger hit than the US, calling the impact "not even close." He also argued the US had been treated "unsustainably badly" by other nations and had acted as a "whipping post," a stance he said would no longer continue. "Hang tough," Trump wrote. "It won't be easy, but the end result will be historic."
The comment follows the rollout of reciprocal US tariffs on most countries, with new China-specific measures starting April 2.
