United States President Donald Trump commented on his meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier today, which he said "didn't work exactly great from [Zelensky's] standpoint" while adding that Ukraine's leader "very much overplayed his hand."
"We're looking for peace," Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One. "We're not looking for somebody that's gonna sign up a strong power and then not make peace because they feel emboldened and that's what I saw happening ... I'm looking for peace, we're not looking to go into a 10 year war and play games .... he [Zelensky] is looking for something that I'm not looking... he is looking to go on and fight, fight, fight..." the president stated.
Trump concluded that he cares for the lives of both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, adding: "I care about everybody and we're not doing that ... I want immediate peace." Furthermore, Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin also wants peace.
