Turkey fines Meta $18.6M for violating competition law

The Turkish Competition Board said on Wednesday it fined Meta, formerly known as Facebook, 346.72 million lira ($18.63 million) for its alleged violation of the country's competition law.

The Turkish regulator claimed that the company caused the "deterioration of competition" by making it difficult for competitors in social network services and online advertising to enter the market by combining data collected through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
