Turkey says it can lay groundwork for deal to end war in Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday that Ankara is ready to "lay groundwork for an agreement" that could end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"Our efforts to establish peace in our region and the world continue," Erogan stressed in Astana, Kazakhstan, while holding a meeting with Putin. Meanwhile, the Russian head of state hailed Moscow's relations with Ankara, stating that despite the current global challenges, the ties between the two are developing "steadily."

Putin also met up with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
