Japan appointed Kazuo Ueda (pictured) as the next governor of its central bank on Friday after the upper chamber of parliament voted in favor of his election, the lower house having done the same day earlier.
Ueda will succeed incumbent Governor Haruhiko Kuroda after the end of his second term in April. Two new deputies, Shinichi Uchida and Ryozo Himino were also selected by the legislative body.
The appointment comes as the Bank of Japan is expected to reveal its monetary policy decision later in the day.
