The Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee gave a green light to Sweden's accession protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Tuesday, a necessary step for the matter to advance to a full parliamentary vote.
The final decision will be made by the Turkish General Assembly once the debate is scheduled.
Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan underscored that the Parliament's ratification of Sweden's NATO bid depended on Washington's approval of Ankara's purchase of F-16 fighter jets.
