Uber Technologies Inc. announced on Tuesday that its users in Austin, Texas can now book a ride in a Waymo LLC autonomous vehicle. It added it is currently testing Waymo rides in Atlanta, Georgia, before offering them to the public.
Uber said users will be able to unlock the vehicle, open the trunk, and start the trip via the Uber app, which also includes round-the-clock customer support. It stressed that all autonomous vehicles available on the app must adhere to its guidelines, claiming that Waymo is "already improving road safety in the cities in which it operates."
